For folks living in the Keweenaw that want to read books (many are in MTU library) with an environmental land-based theme, I would encourage you to read books by Winona LaDuke and Stephanie Mills and Sigord Olson write about the Northwoods and various issues.

Katie Alvord lives in the U.P. and wrote the book "Divorce your Car" which discusses history of transportation in North American and proposes several case studies of how to become more car free in your daily life.
