REU Project

Houghton, Michigan Tech’s hometown, has seen rapid development and commercialization as it serves as a ‘gateway community’ to the greater Keweenaw Peninsula in Northern Michigan. My work involves applying the established organizational concepts of stakeholder theory to decision making processes and developmental considerations in Houghton’s highly developed M-26 corridor. The goal of the research is to more properly understand the processes by which development occurs in the corridor through the application of a derived stakeholder model that shifts organizational stakeholder thinking from a corporate format to one that reflects varying types and definitions of entities. The model will apply Wal-Mart’s recent expansion in Houghton as a case study using the Huron Creek Watershed as a modeled entity.

Personal Information

I am from Torrington, CT, and attend Clark University in Worcester, MA. I will be finishing my BA in Management, and starting my Master’s in Environmental Science and Policy this August.

I spent the last semester in London, where I interned with a community consulting firm, and underneath the Environmental Policy Advisor at Water UK.

My current research interests revolve around green consumerism and the emergent field of ecological economics.

Currently, I am coordinating a network of undergraduate researchers and organizing a Green Market survey as part of an independent project through Clark (www.theinitiative.org).
